Mr. Steve Comes Downtown
I’ll have some thoughts on the changes at the Sheppard Mansion later. I intended to post something today about the news, but plans changed when my good friend borough council member Heidi Hormel told me that a new business had opened downtown.
Mr. Steve’s Homebrew and Winemaking Supplies opened on Carlisle Street near PNC Bank recently. I hadn’t heard or seen this so I drove by today to check it out. I didn’t have a chance to stop in, but it exists!
This is a new location for a regional chain – they have stores in York, Lancaster and Camp Hill – so this isn’t a fly-by-night operation. They have been around for more than 20 years and, in addition to selling equipment for those who like to brew at home, have classes for those who want to learn.
The website doesn’t have info on the Hanover location yet so I hope to stop in soon to learn more. If I am on the square long enough for their opening time tomorrow – service clubs will be decorating the square, and I will be there with the Lions Club – I might do that then.
Regardless, it’s good to see a new business call downtown home to mix up some of the bad news recently.
