Getting in the Halloween Spirit

August 9, 2012 | 1 Comment

About three months ago, I wrote that the Fully Loaded store which closed on York Street downtown said it would re-open in the old Blockbuster on Carlisle Street in the fall. Well, that doesn’t seen to be happening.

Signs for a store called Spirit have appeared in the windows of the vacant Carlisle Street store. Spirit is a chain owned by Spencer’s Gifts which specializes in Halloween costumes and decorations. Wonder what made them think Hanover would be a good addition to their 800-plus locations?

I’m glad someone can use that space although this seems to just be a seasonal thing. From what I found online, they previously had a location in the Delco Plaza (you know, the one with Big Lots, Jo Anns and Pizza Hut).

  1. The Spirit store is a great place to go get costumes, makeup, or even just pieces that you may need to complete a Halloween costume you already have. They also have decorations for your house or yard. I was personally glad to see that they went into the old Blockbuster building. Lord knows we certainly don’t need to see anymore of the “Fully Loaded” store, or it’s owner. They just created trouble for the community.
