First Try: Warehouse Gourmet
First in a occasional series of places around Hanover I am trying for the first time
I had no real good reason for not eating at the Warehouse Gourmet on Philadelphia Street before today. My wife had gone there. I had heard many good things about the food. I just never made the effort to swing out there and get lunch.
So on my break volunteering at Hanover Middle School today, I made the trek. What a good decision.
First of all, you have to love a place that has a “Dagwood Sandwich.” Anyone that knows the humor within one of the only funny things in any “Blondie” comic strip gets my seal of approval. They had this sandwich – which features turkey, ham, bacon, bleu cheese dressing and red onion – as one of the specials today. I could not resist.
Secondly, the sandwich was amazing. I love the homemmade bread and all the ingredients worked will together. They didn’t have too much bleu cheese in the mix so you got the taste without too much of a mess. I didn’t try the slaw because I’m not much of a slaw guy. but I bet it is really good.
You definitely have cheaper options around town, but you definitely get your money’s worth. I will come back, for sure, especially if they start serving those homemmade brews I have heard about.
