Church Buys Parkville Fire Co.

November 19, 2012 | Comment

I first noticed the change to the sign the other day. Then I saw a printed announcement about the cancellation of Bingo at the old Parkville Fire Co. My trick knee told me something had to be up.

A little sleuthing confirmed it. Apostolic Ministries Church, which is currently located on John Street behind Sheppard-Myers Field, bought the old fire company building and plans to move in next year. A notice on their website shows work has already begun.

I had seen their current location for sale for a while, but just figured the congregation had split up or merged with someone else. Little did I know they just needed a bigger home. The fire company offers a large property so, if they are growing, that’s good news for pretty much everyone.

The church’s site says they will begin holding some weeknight services and other events at the new location immediately while renovations take place to get things ready for their full complement of activities. With all that room and a commercial kitchen, it shouldn’t be too long before 955 Baltimore Street starts hopping with activity again.
